Story of the Mini tells the history of the small car that became one of the giants in the automobile history. Using specially shot new footage, the programme charts the rise and rise of one of the best loved cars in the world. It looks at the critical models in detail, and illustrates what it was that made the car such a success.

There is also rarely seen archive footage that documents the Mini’s important milestones from its launch through to the One Millionth Mini – and onwards. There are some of the wacky and fun things that people did with the car, as well as its extraordinary achievements in competition, including the legendary wins in the Monte Carlo Rally driven by Paddy Hopkirk.

This programme also features interviews with some of the people who played a part in the Mini story, as well as hearing from those who still run examples today on road and track.

Finally, the programme is brought right up to date with an insight into the new, BMW  produced Mini, which seems to have created a whole new generation of fans. The Mini legend is set to continue well into the twenty-first century.
